LOWER TRAIL
The 16.5 mile Lower (pronounced like "Flower") Trail is located on the abandoned Petersburg Branch of the old Pennsylvania Railroad. It follows the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River between Flowing Springs (1/4 mile S. of U.S. Rt. 22 near Canoe Creek State Park in Blair County) and Alfarata (near Alexandria in Huntingdon County). The Lower Trail is open to the public, free of charge, for hiking, jogging, bicycling, horseback riding, bird-watching, cross-country skiing, and other non-motorized recreation.
